According to Smart Traveler, they mention 8 items that could save your life when you are packing. There list includes a whistle, flash light, first aid kit, rescue blanket, dust mask, backup charger, water, and food. When it comes to packing, you do not want to think of the worse to happen but it is always great to be prepare. If you visit a destination there can be some type of disaster or real risk of an emergency. The items listed are also helps for traveler use if it isn't an emergency. For example, the website mentions a LED flashlight. Any size LED with long battery lives. It is also good for finding your way to a cabin, or reading in a bed at a hotel without waking up sleeping partner. They also mention a dusk mask. It will provide coverage against larger airborne particles. It provides protection if you have a cold when your are on a plane or a dust storm protection. It is good to prepare in advance when you are surviving for a disaster. It is also good to familiarize yourself with a potential vulnerabilities of a place before you arrive.
"A whistle (opt for a “pealess” whistle, one that does not contain a cork pea, for maximum durability) can help rescuers find you if you’re trapped in a building or under rubble after a disaster. The high-pitched sound can be easier to detect than the human voice, and it can be indispensable when dehydration or crushing has impaired your ability to yell." Sarkis, 2019
The items that mention in the articles I somewhat agree with. A whistle can be handle because you can use if you are in an emergency. A flashlight is also a good idea because you easily need another source of light. You can attach to your keychain. The first aid kit is something that I personally always keep on hand because you never know when you need a bandaid. Especially if you have kids I think that is something you should always have since they are delicate. I don't think a dusk musk is necessary. It is going to wear when you are on plane if you are sick. But if you are sick you should traveling; you are just spreading more germs. Even a rescue blanket I do not think it a must depending on where you are going. I think if you are going to place that is maybe a resort then I feel like they should have something like that already on hand.
